Monthly Club Meetings

We hold meetings open to all members on the last Wednesday of the month excluding December, at the British Legion in Hockley at 8pm. The venue has a bar where members can congregate before adjourning for the meeting on the first floor.

The meetings provide an opportunity for members to find out what is happening and to share their views. In February we hold the AGM at the same venue and at the November meeting we raffle Xmas hampers.

Newsletters

We publish newsletters to keep members, who cannot make club meetings, abreast of current club issues and concerns, together with details of how our lakes are fishing.
Copies of the latest newsletters can be seen via the links below.

NEW LAKE- The lake was originally a farm reservoir and not designed for fishing, so it needs some adjustment! Works are well under way as can be seen by the photos below, all within COIVD guidelines.
To date we have installed a container (as can be seen it needed painting!), we have used a contractor to cut a path around the original steep sloping banks along with two slopes down to the path, and put in scaffolding for the platform swims.
Eight swims are in place with a further four to be installed in the coming weeks. There will be a step down to each swim, given the sloping banks this is the best and only real option. It is exceptionally muddy from the weather and clay soil so we have used bark chippings until we are able to grow some grass!

Thanks goes to Barry Lovell for taking the photos and to all of those who have assisted so far!

6 March 2020

On 6 March the EA helped by members of the club and Billericay angling netted approx 1/3  of the far end of the lake to remove smaller silvers which have been donated to Billericay following a fish kill. These fish have bred in the lake and need thinning to maintain a quality stock (as advised by the EA). As you can see there really is no shortage of fish! A number of good sized perch, crucians, F1s and even a couple of grass carp were caught and safely returned to Falklands.
